4 Grammy Nominated Albums Recorded at Air Studios Montserrat

Air Studios Montserrat was a renowned recording studio located on the island that produced a lot of timeless classics that we still enjoy today. Set up by Sir George Martin, (sometimes referred to as the fifth Beatle), in 1979, the studio was in operation until 1989. Unfortunately, it faced many challenges, but most significantly, it suffered a lot of damage from Hurricane Hugo which visited the island on September 17th.

Despite its relatively short operational period, the studio hosted several notable recording sessions, including those for Grammy-nominated albums. Here are four albums recorded at Air Studios Montserrat that received Grammy nominations:

Tug Of War – Paul McCartney Nominated in 1983

Synchronicity – The Police Nominated in 1984

Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms 1986

Nothing Like the Sun – Sting Nominated in 1989

Montesrrat remains a place with an unexplainable allure and attraction. Even though it’s been over 3 decades since the days of Air Studios, that creative magic is still very much alive in the atmosphere.
