Back To Back Home Victories for Montserrat
On Friday 17th November, Montserrat took a 2-1 victory against the Dominican Republic at the Blakes Estate Stadium.
Congratulations to the Montserrat Football team on gaining back-to-back victories at home. The team played well together and showed a lot of confidence and tenacity in both matches.
Montserrat’s Brandon Barzey opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a header at the far post.
Strawbridge extended the lead to 2-0 in the 57th minute with a curling attempt from the edge of the box, rebounding off the left post and into goal.
Edarlyn Reyes took one back for the visitors in the 75th minute with a power strike inside the box.
Then on Monday 20th November, Montserrat played Barbados and came away with a 4-2 victory over Barbados in Group B of League B in the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League.
Montserrat’s Brandon Barzey opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a long-range hit straight to the left side of goal.
Josiah Dyer extended the lead in the 36th minute to 2-0 with a final touch inside the box to cap off a collective build-up through the right flank.
Rashad Jules was subbed on at the start of the second half and immediately impacted the match with a goal in the 47th minute, shooting from inside the penalty arc to finish a free kick opportunity for the visitors.
Donervorn Daniels added a third for Montserrat in the 62nd minute with a header near the left post to convert on a free-kick opportunity. Alex Dyer provided the pinpoint service to the far post for a 3-1 lead.
Dominic Richmond struck in the left upper corner in the 89th minute to extend the lead for the hosts to 4-1.
Tajio James forced a turnover in stoppage time and would take a goal back for the visitors in the 94th minute to complete the 4-2 scoreline.
Montserrat now sits at 23rd in the Concacaf Mens league ahead of Antigua (28) and St Kitts & Nevis (25)
